Hall of Fame Introduction: Loren (Sayers) Green

Tonight, we are honored to recognize Loren (Sayers) Green, a member of the Elmira High School Class of 2016, whose accomplishments in both swimming and diving and golf established her as one of the most versatile and accomplished student-athletes in school history.

Loren was a remarkable six-year varsity athlete in two sports, competing in Swimming & Diving and Golf from grades 7 through 12. She was coached by Maria Quagliana in diving, Jay Sentigar in swimming, and her father, Chris Sayers, in golf. Her athletic career was defined by excellence, consistency, and a willingness to excel in sports that often receive less recognition than many traditional high school athletics.

A true pioneer for Elmira athletics, Loren became the first Express athlete to qualify for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships in both golf and diving. In diving, she was a 3 time STAC champion, a Section IV Individual Champion, a Class A Champion, a New York State qualifier, and a Team MVP. She also set Elmira High School records in both the six-dive dual meets and eleven-dive competitions at invitationals, sectionals and states.

In golf, Loren was a member of the 2016 New York State Tournament Team, earned Team MVP honors, and established school records for both nine-hole and eighteen-hole scoring for the girls' program.

Following her outstanding high school career, Loren continued her athletic success at SUNY Brockport, where she competed as a member of the swimming and diving program. During her collegiate career, she was a four-year diving standout, placing at the SUNYAC Championships all four years, earning recognition as an eight-time conference finalist, an eight-time regional finalist, and competing as a two-time NCAA Championship participant.

Today, Loren resides in Elmira, New York, with her husband, Jaime Green. She has remained deeply involved in the sport she loves, serving as the boys' and girls' diving coach at Horseheads High School for four years. During her coaching tenure, both programs went undefeated and captured an incredible eight sectional titles combined. She retired from coaching in 2025 and is now excited to begin a new chapter, as she and Jaime are expecting their first child, a baby girl, this November.

When reflecting on her time as an Elmira athlete, Loren points to two experiences she treasures most: achieving success in sports that do not always receive the spotlight and having the opportunity to compete under the guidance of her father, an experience she says she will always cherish.

Joining Loren this evening are her husband, Jaime Green, and her parents, Chris and Monika Sayers.

Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Loren (Sayers) Green to the Elmira Hall of Fame.
